Various Types
of Travel Insurance
There are several various types of travel
insurance available. The coverage and limitations vary
depending on which insurance company is issuing the
policy.
First thing that you should be consider when
selecting the various types of travel insurance is anual or single
trip coverage. Both have their advantages and
disadvantages.
If you don't travel much, single trip makes
more sense. Why pay for the extra days if you will not be
using them. Also a single trip policy allows you to target
your policy to the exact trip your taking. Single trip is best if
you travel less than three times per year, or take a specific type
of holiday each year, then you only pay for the exact number of
days you spend traveling.
Annual Travel
Insurance
The advantage for annual travel
insurance is that you don't need to worry about getting
covered every time you go on a trip. This is very useful for
someone who travels frequently as it works out less than paying for
several single trips. Annual insurance is best if you travel
more than three times a year, or if you make last minute travel
plans, and don't have time to get covered before you leave.
Beyond single and annual travel insurance most policies
offer the following
coverage.
Accident or illness medical expenses cover costs incurred due
to
injury or illness that occur while on a trip.
Medical evacuation/emergency transportation covers transportation
when a medical emergency arises while your traveling which requires
transportation to a hospital or other medical facility, or when
your required to return home.
Baggage, personal loss, or delay covers losses due to items
lost,
damaged or delayed during a trip.
Trip delay covers reimbursement for expenses incurred when a trip
is delayed
Trip Cancellation covers non-refundable payments or deposits if
a
trip is canceled or interrupted due to unforeseen
conditions.
